March is a beautiful time of the year on the McKenzie Preserve. Bring your family and friends to the Open House to explore on your own, enjoy the wildflowers and perhaps have a picnic. You may pick up a Discovery Trail guide and walk this in interesting loop trail on the lower part of the preserve or hike to the table top to see the beautiful view. While you explore the preserve, observe plein air artists creating paintings on canvas right out of the landscape. No reservations are needed.

Last evening David and I were reading. I was reading Julia Childs' 'My Life in France' while David was reading his latest 'Black & White' photography magazine. Occassionally he'd point out a photograph that won the 'merrit' award in the special issue of the contest winners.
Then he shows me a photograph taken in Yosemite at the same spot he has taken pictures. It's a snow scene looking up the Merced River with rocks covered in snow. I told him he should compare his photograph to the magazine to see if the rocks have changed.
He then moves his hand revealing the name of the photographer (David L. Hoffman) and says, 'I don't think they've changed'. What a SURPRISE!!! I couldn't believe he didn't tell me when he found out he'd earned the merrit award!
Congratulations honey!!

Spring 2009
I am honored to have been chosen as the cover artist for the Sierra Art Trails catalog for this year. The event will be the weekend of October 3 & 4, 2009.
The catalog is your ticket for 2 persons. Catalogs are now available. The catalog lists each artist, an example of their work, artist statement, contact information and their location to see their work. Three maps guide you to the artists you are interested in viewing.
Sierra Art Trails is an annual open studio tour in our mountain communities. The trail extends from O'Neils up to Oakhurst, across to Mariposa and down to Cathys Valley. This area has the highest concentration of artists in California, if not all of the United States.
Each October artists join together at local studios, homes and galleries to share their work with the public. Sierra Art Trails is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering the arts in our area.
